For hosts
How much can I earn renting out my parking space?
The honest answer: it depends — and we won’t quote a made-up average. What you earn comes down to location, how many hours a week your space is available, and local demand. Here’s how to think about it, and exactly what LookingForCarPark takes.
What drives your earnings
The four signals we use to suggest a competitive starting price for your area on the setup call.
What you keep
Our commission is a flat 4% LookingForCarPark fee per booking, plus card processing passed through at actual cost (the payment provider’s real charge, typically around 1.5% + 20p on a UK card). We show the two as separate lines, so nothing is hidden inside the commission number.
| Booking value | £100.00 |
| LookingForCarPark fee (4%) | −£4.00 |
| Card processing (at actual cost) | ≈ −£1.70 |
| You keep | ≈ £94.30 |
One rate, every booking — no tiers, no rate changes by stay length or booking size, and no markup added to the driver’s price. Listing is free: no monthly, setup or listing fees.
Tax on parking-space income
HMRC’s Property Allowance lets you earn up to £1,000 per tax year from property-related income without paying tax or declaring it. Above £1,000 you must declare the income on a self-assessment return. The Rent a Room Scheme does not apply to driveway or parking-space income (it is for lodgers only). This is general guidance, not tax advice — consult an accountant for income above the allowance.
