Who we are

The controller of your personal data is LookingForCarPark Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 12021283. We run the car parks and car washes listed on lookingforcarpark.com and the booking website and apps.

What we collect, why, and our lawful basis

We collect data you give us (for example when you book, create an account or contact us), data created when you use our sites (such as camera images and entry and exit times), and data from others (such as Google or Apple when you sign in with them, and the DVLA for unpaid charges).

• Taking and managing your bookings, including changes, extensions, cancellations and refunds

  Data: Name, email, phone number, vehicle registration, make and colour, booking dates and site

  Lawful basis: Contract: we need it to provide the parking or car wash you booked

• Taking payment

  Data: Payment amount and status. Card details go straight to Stripe; we never see or store your full card number

  Lawful basis: Contract

• Letting you in and out at sites with number plate recognition (ANPR) or barriers

  Data: Vehicle registration, booking times, camera images and entry and exit times

• Keeping our car parks safe and checking that vehicles keep to the parking terms, using CCTV, ANPR and staff checks

• Following up unpaid parking fees or charges, which can include asking the DVLA or other third parties for the registered keeper's details

You need to give us your contact details and vehicle registration to make a booking; without them we cannot take the booking or let you in. We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects.

Using our mobile app

The app uses your account details, vehicle information and booking history to provide parking and car wash bookings and account features. If you submit a review, its content and display name may be shown to other users after moderation. Reviews and support messages are optional.

Stripe's mobile payment services collect device and session identifiers, device and operating system details, payment-screen interactions, timings and error reports. These are used to process and protect payments, prevent fraud and improve the payment service. Stripe's fraud systems can derive approximate country or state information from the network IP address used for a payment. This does not mean the app accesses your phone's GPS or precise device location. The app does not provide a switch to turn off this payment-service processing while using that service.

Stripe and, where authentication requires it, the card network and card issuer receive information needed to process and authenticate payments. Stripe's privacy information is at https://stripe.com/privacy. We do not see or store your full card number.

The app can request notification permission for booking reminders. Where push delivery is enabled, Expo and Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging services handle notification tokens and delivery. Notification and reminder choices can be changed in the app or your device settings. This is separate from the payment-service processing described above.

Deleting your account removes your profile and saved vehicles. Booking and payment records required for legal and accounting purposes are retained for the period stated below. For access, correction or deletion requests, including requests about particular data without closing your account, email support@lookingforcarpark.com. We may need to verify your identity.

Who we share it with

We share only what each of these needs to do its job:

• Stripe, which processes card, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments and helps prevent fraud.
• Our ANPR and camera provider, which receives your vehicle registration and booking times so the cameras or barrier recognise your booking.
• Google, which provides our email (Google Workspace), maps, Google sign-in and, with your consent, Google Analytics.
• Apple, if you choose Sign in with Apple.
• Vercel, which hosts the website and provides cookie-free Web Analytics and Speed Insights.
• Our cloud hosting and storage providers (Railway and Amazon Web Services), which host our database and files.
• The DVLA, when a parking fee or charge is unpaid.
• The police, courts or other authorities, when the law requires it or to protect people or property.
• Professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers, and a buyer of our business if it is ever sold.

We do not sell your personal data.

Transfers outside the UK

Some of these providers, including Stripe, Google, Apple, Vercel and Amazon Web Services, may process data outside the UK, for example in the United States or the European Economic Area. When they do, the transfer is covered by UK adequacy regulations (including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework) or by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum. Email us for a copy of the safeguard that applies.

How long we keep it

• Booking and payment records: 6 years after the end of the financial year they belong to, because UK tax and company law requires it.
• Your profile information and saved vehicles are removed when you delete your account. Some records remain for legal or accounting requirements, or legitimate security, support and dispute purposes, for the periods described in this notice.
• Camera images and number plate reads: only as long as we need them to manage access, security and parking compliance, and no more than 24 months. If a fee or charge is unpaid or disputed, we keep the evidence until the matter is closed.
• Messages you send us: 24 months after the conversation ends.
• Google Analytics data: up to 14 months.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• be told how we use your data (this notice);
• get a copy of your data;
• have wrong or incomplete data corrected;
• have your data deleted;
• restrict how we use it;
• object to our use of it, including where we rely on legitimate interests;
• receive the data you gave us in a format you can take elsewhere;
• withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what we did before you withdrew it.

Email support@lookingforcarpark.com to use any of these rights. We may need to check who you are first. We reply within one month and there is normally no charge.

Cookies

Essential

Needed for the site to work, so they are always on: keeping you signed in, guest checkout, remembering your cookie choice, and Stripe's fraud prevention on the payment page.

Analytics and advertising (only with your consent)

Google Analytics cookies (names starting _ga) and Google advertising cookies (names starting _gcl) help us understand how visitors use the site. They are not set until you choose Accept all. If you reject them later, we remove them.

You can change your choice at any time: change your cookie settings.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have used your data, please tell us first at support@lookingforcarpark.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
