Case study

How we run Waterloo car park and car wash

Waterloo is a LookingForCarPark site: we operate the car park and the car wash ourselves, and every booking, ticket and wash sale there runs through the software we sell.

The site

Waterloo is a car park and a car wash on one site in central London. Drivers pre-book parking or a wash online, and others arrive on the day and pay at the counter. That means two kinds of sale, online and walk-up, and two services, parking and washing, handled by the same staff on the same shift.

We built the till and the admin panel so that all of it goes through one system: one bookings board, one set of shifts and one customer account for parking and washing. Drivers can see the site itself on the Waterloo car park page.

The stack at Waterloo

Every part of this is a product you can use at your own site.

  • Online booking

Drivers book parking and car washes on lookingforcarpark.com, in one account, with no booking fee.

  • ANPR permits

Each parking booking is whitelisted to the site's ANPR cameras automatically.

  • The till

Walk-up tickets and wash sales on a touch screen, with 80 mm receipts and DVLA lookup.

  • Wash catalogue

Packages and extras priced per vehicle type, sold online and at the till.

  • Shared shifts

Staff join the site's open shift, totals build up through the day, and a shift report closes it.

  • Admin panel

Bookings board, live occupancy, busy hours, tariffs, capacity, staff access and reports.

A day at Waterloo

  1. Opening

    Staff join the shift

The first member of staff opens the till and joins the site's shared shift. Anyone who comes on later joins the same shift.

  2. Through the day

    Bookings arrive on their own

Online parking bookings are whitelisted to the cameras as they come in, so booked drivers do not need the counter at all.

  3. At the counter

    Walk-ups and washes

Walk-up drivers get a ticket from the tariff cards, with the vehicle looked up from DVLA and a printed receipt. Wash customers pick a package and extras on the same till.

  4. When plans change

    Edit, extend or void

If a driver stays longer or a ticket was wrong, staff extend, edit or void it, and the audit trail keeps every change.

  5. Closing

    Shift report and the panel

The shift closes with its totals and a shift report. In the admin panel, the manager checks occupancy, busy hours and the reports.

What it means for your site

Because we run Waterloo ourselves, the software is shaped by a working car park and car wash rather than a demo. You can take the whole stack, or one part of it: the till and admin panel, ANPR automation or car wash booking. Starting prices are on the business solutions page.

Run your site the way we run Waterloo

Book a demo and we will show you the same till, admin panel and online booking our Waterloo staff use, then quote for your site.
