Parking in Boston, Lincolnshire: Town Centre Guide
17 July 2026 · 4 min read · By the LFCP team
A quick disambiguation before anything else: this guide is about Boston, Lincolnshire, the market town on the Witham, not Boston, Massachusetts. If your search results kept trying to send you to New England, you are in the right place now.
And an honesty note up front: we operate a car park in Boston town centre, so we are not a neutral directory. What we can offer instead is precision. Every walk time below is measured from our own forecourt, and the practical rules (market days, cancellation, the car wash beside the bays) are the ones our booking engine actually applies, not marketing approximations.
The short answer
Boston Car Park is at 51 Wide Bargate, Boston, Lincolnshire PE21 6SH, about 100 metres from the Market Place. You pre-book a marked bay online, the booking itself acts as your permit, and the price is fixed when you book. There is no gate, no kiosk and no ticket machine; bookings are online only.
That is the whole system. The rest of this guide covers how far everything in town is on foot, what changes on market days, and the small print worth knowing before you commit.
How the Wide Bargate car park works
Boston is a town where most parking anxiety comes from uncertainty: will there be a space, will the meter run out, will market day swallow every bay in the centre. Pre-booking removes all three, which is the honest case for using us over taking your chances on street:
- Marked bays, booked online. You reserve a bay for your exact times before you arrive. We never overbook, so the bay you reserve is the bay you get.
- The booking is the permit. No paper ticket, no kiosk, nothing to display. Book, park, walk into town.
- No gate or barrier. The site is open around the clock, so an early market start or a late finish at the theatre does not trap your car.
- CCTV monitoring covers the town-centre forecourt.
- The price is shown before you pay. The live rate for your exact times appears in the booking panel, and it does not change on arrival.
One honest caveat: on a quiet weekday afternoon outside market hours, Boston is not London, and you may well find an on-street space if you are happy to circle and feed a meter. Pre-booking earns its keep when timing matters, when the market is on, or when you simply do not want the circling to be part of the trip.
Walk times, measured from the forecourt
Everything that brings people into Boston sits within a few minutes of Wide Bargate:
- Market Place: about 100 metres. You are effectively parking at the market.
- St Botolph's Church (the Boston Stump): 4 minutes. The tallest medieval parish church tower in England, and the town's landmark from every approach road.
- Pescod Square Shopping Centre: 4 minutes.
- Boston Guildhall Museum: 6 minutes. The 14th-century building holding the cells where the Pilgrim Fathers were briefly imprisoned.
- Blackfriars Theatre & Arts Centre: 8 minutes.
- Boston Railway Station: 10 minutes, on the Poacher line.
- Maud Foster Windmill: 11 minutes.
Useful to know rather than pleasant: Pilgrim Hospital A&E is about a five-minute drive away at Sibsey Road.
If you want the broader area picture, including popular nearby searches and the riverside walk, our Boston parking hub covers it.
Market days: Wednesday and Saturday
Boston's outdoor market runs in the Market Place on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and those are the days the town centre genuinely tightens up. Traffic slows, on-street bays fill early, and the circling starts. It is also exactly when you most want to be here: the market is the reason Boston is a market town.
Our advice is unexciting but reliable: if you are coming on a Wednesday or Saturday, book the bay before you leave home. The price is locked when you book, so market-day demand does not cost you anything extra, and you can spend market day at the market instead of hunting for somewhere to put the car.
The car wash on the same forecourt
Boston is one of our two combined car park and car wash sites (Waterloo in London is the other). A pre-bookable car wash runs from the same Wide Bargate forecourt through the same account: hand wash and full valeting, with exterior, interior and combined packages. Detailing is the one service we only run at Waterloo.
The detail that makes the bundle work: every car-wash booking includes one free hour of parking on site. If your errand list fits in an hour, the wash booking is your parking too. Need longer in town, book parking for the remaining time alongside it. Two errands, one stop, and you walk back to a clean car.
Cancellations, extensions and the small print
- Parking bookings cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the start time, with the refund going back to your original payment method within 5 to 10 working days. Inside 24 hours, the booking is non-refundable.
- Car-wash bookings cancel free up to 2 hours before the slot, a shorter window because the wash team is staffed for your booking.
- Running late in town? Extensions can be made through your account dashboard while you are parked, subject to availability.
Own a parking space in Boston?
The flip side of a town with tight central parking is that unused private spaces are worth something. If you have a driveway, garage or yard in or around Boston, you can list it with us. Our commission is a flat 4% per booking plus card processing at actual cost, itemised as separate lines so you can see exactly where every pound goes, and HMRC's property allowance lets you earn up to £1,000 per tax year from property income before it needs declaring (general guidance, not tax advice).
